$500 + $60 NL
Italian Restaurant owner Richard DeVivo loves Borgata's early week tournaments because those are his days off. "We're closed Mondays and Tuesdays, so this is perfect for me," says the Toms River, NJ entrepreneur.
So far so good in Day 1B of the Deep Stack where DeVivo has more than 125k and is among the chip leaders.
On a board of A 4 4 7 4, DeVivo leads out for 11,500 and is reraised by a player who makes it 30k to go. After a short pause, he makes the call with an ace in his hand and is hopeful that he's not dead to a 4 (quads) or pocket 7s (bigger full house).
The clearly frustrated player mucks and goes out shortly after that when pocket 5s are crushed by pocket kings. "I told you I was on tilt," the player says while leaving the table and, "I did not give him (DeVivo) all those chips."
Two hands later, DeVivo makes a preflop raise to 4k and then calls the all-in shove for 4,900 more. DeVivo's in great shape with Q♠ Q♥ vs 10♣ 10♥. The board runs clean and DeVivo adds another 10k to his stack.
If DeVivo makes a deep run, Preps for the Fettuccine Capri will have to wait another day, as he'll be playing in Tuesday's Day 2 Final.
Level 8 (400/800/75 ante) continues.
