Glenn Cole (Centerville, MD) is a construction worker supervisor who loves coming to Borgata and playing, "whatever game is going on at the time." This time it's No Limit Texas Hold'em and Cole is clearly one of the chip leaders with less than 60 players remaining.
Cole's stack is close to 200k and his big haul comes before the dinner break when he's holding A 2 and the flop comes 2 2 A for the full house. Cole doubles up on the hand, taking his stack to well north of 125k and it's been building ever since.
Cole makes several trips a year to Borgata and his best finish was 13th in the 2008 Borgata Poker Open Limit event.
Level 12 (1k/2k/300 ante) continues.

Fist Pump You Up
$300 + $50 NLH
From Borgata Summer Poker Open Media table we happened to watch two separate players from separate tables, stand, celebrate, and fist pump at precisely the same time - as if in sync.
Fist Pump #1: Mark Steitz (Wall Township, NJ) was excited that his KK held up against Opponent's JJ. Mark's stack has reached 90,000.
Fist Pump #2: Sean Grieve (Jersey City, NJ) was certain his tournament was over. He was heads up all in pre-flop and Opponent had him covered. All Sean could do was beg for a two, or two.
A-9 against Sean's 2-2.
Flop falls A-A-brick.
Sean stands and gathers his things. But wait - the first part of his miracle hits the turn.
As if a defibrillator jolted his chest and signs of life started to return, he shouted out, "Two, Two, Two" and the poker God's complied with quads. Very fist pump worthy indeed.
"I still thought I was out the door. I had to double check to make sure it was real" said Grieve.
With that needed double up, Sean's stack has grown to 45,000.

In a span of one minute we see pocket aces three times. First David Arpino (Long Island, NY) raises to 7k and then calls a 28k button shove.
Arpino's A♠ A♦ hold vs J♥ J♦ as he takes his stack to 82k.
Before the pot's even pushed to Arpino, there's heavy action one table over.
The betting is: 3k, raise to 6,800, 4 bet to 14k, 5 bet shove for 40k total. It folds around to
Glenn Cole (Centerville, MD) who made the 4 bet and he calls with A♣ A♠.
Venkat Pasham (Sayreville, NJ) shows A♦ A♥ and a chop is imminent, until a third club comes on the turn and Pasham has to dodge the flush. "That would've been a terrible way to go out," he says after the harmless 9♥ hits the river.

His goal is to become a professional player and he has his Dad's blessing. But, at age 22 his back-up plan is to attend Ocean County College in the fall and run his Pop's gas station with his brothers and Uncle.
Demers is primarily an internet player, playing up to 35 small tournaments a day, but he's making the transition to cash and tournaments. He built his bankroll from a $20 on-line credit into 15k, in one week, after winning two tournies.
He plans on cashing in some early Borgata Summer Poker Open events and parlay the winnings into more events.
Gionni was proud to report he earned most of his 18,000 stack today on a stone cold high octane bluff.

Frank DiRe's twelve year old son Justin made him a pyramid shaped card protector three years ago and the first time Frank used it he won a tournament here at Borgata. So this morning when his son asked Frank to use it again, Frank happily agreed.
The pyramid must be working as Frank just built his stack to 60,000 after flopping back-to-back sets.
Hand #1: Opponent bets 1000 pre and gets two callers.
Flop comes 5-7-4 rainbow.
Opponent bets 2000 and Frank raises to 5800.
Opponent calls and they see an 8 on the turn.
Opponent checks, Frank bets 2500. Opponent shoves all in.
Frank puts him on an overpair, hopes he doesn't have the six for the straight, and calls.
Opponent shows pocket tens.
Frank shows pocket sevens and the set.
Three on the river, no six, no chop. Frank wins.
The very next hand...
On a scary flop of Q-6-2 of hearts, Frank bets big and takes down a small pot.
He shows pocket sixes for another set.
"That's it. I can't show you guys anymore" declared DiRe.
Back to back sets is pretty impressive.
Looks like that reminder from Justin was an unexpected early Father's Day present.

Blinds are 100 / 200 and the pot is bet up to 4,000.
Board reveals 7♣ A♠ 10♠ 9♦ 10♥.

Both gentleman from NY share a laugh.
Looks like Frankie's not giving out any funerals this time.
Can this table dish out quads or what?

Once she turned eights full of sixes she thought she was good only to realize her opponent flopped quads.
The irony - Courtney is sitting at table 6, seat 6 and fell to 6-6-6-6 and her boyfriend Dave Thorne (Lansford,PA) is also at the table.
"She runs worse than anyone I know - said Dave.
Hang in there Courtney it's still early!

Champion - Sacks
$200 + $30 NL
After a four-way free for all, Gil Sacks (Bala Cynwyd, NJ) takes down the first event of the Borgata Summer Poker Open. Sacks takes home the top prize of $28,077 after outlasting the field of 508 players.
"I played well, and my big hands held," says Gill who picked up pocket aces twice when the field was down to two tables. That, coupled with a set of 4s to crack aces, it adds up to a commanding chip lead and a BSO championship.

6th Place - Matrone
$200 + $30 NL
Michael "Two Tone" Matrone - $4,681
Michael Matrone (Morganville, NJ) sees a cruel river after playing well throughout the day. Matrone shoves all-in from the SB with KK and is called by Chris Lyon who, for the second time at the final table, picks up 77.
The flop and turn are clean, but the river is 7th heaven for Matrone, as a 7 hits the table, sending Matrone to the rail with $4,681.

7th Place - Small
$200 + $30 NL
Kenny Small - $3,696
Kerry Small (Ventnor, NJ) shoves all-in for his last 140k and after a couple of players posture for position, there's four to a flop.
The flop of Q♦ J♠ 4♥, gets Michael Matrone to bet into a dry side pot and the other two players fold.
Matrone tables top-top with A♣ Q♠, which is way ahead of the A♥ 6♠ of Small. The turn brings a 7 and Small's drawing dead to end his day in 6th place, good for $4,681.
Chris Lyon lets everyone know that he would would've hit a set.

8th Place - Bui
$200 + $30 NL
Dao Bui - $2,710
Often times in poker it's better to be lucky than good, something Dao Bui (Washington, D.C.) finds out the hard way. Bui shoves 400k with pocket 10s, but unfortunately for her Kenneth Jacoby isn't aware of the play and says, "raise," which commits him to the pot.
Jacoby tables A 7 and gets a generous A A K flop. The turn brings a 7 to seal the deal with a full house, and just to rub some salt into Bui's wound, the river is a 10 to give her a smaller boat.
Jacoby's quick to apologize and says, "I would've never called if I had known."
Bui's disappointed, but keeps things in perspective, "it's frustrating, but oh well," she says, while picking up $2,710 for 8th place. "I just wish the 7 wouldn't have come on the turn," she says, "I would've had it."

9th Place - Rabah
$200 + $30 NL
It's blind vs blind when chip leader Gil Sacks shoves all-in against Saed Rabah (Staten Island, NY) who makes the call for his last 300k with A 5 and his ahead of Sacks' suited K 8.
The flop is 5 6 8, giving both players a pair, and Sacks' pair of 8s hold to eliminate Rabah in 9th place as he collects $1,971.

10th Place - Stover

Victor Stover - $1,281
The first hand of the final table has the shortest stack, Victor Stover (Hummelstown, PA), shove his final 28k all-in. Chris Lyon (Brick, NJ) makes the call with 88 and has the lead on Stover's A3.
The board doesn't offer Stover any help and he's out in 10th place, good for $1,281.

The 11th position goes to Anthony Caldeira (Lindenhurst, NY), he too picks up $1,281 as the remaining 10 players redrawing for the final table.

Big Hit
After chopping a large pot earlier in the night, Milton Amarante (Cherry Hill, NJ) and Trevor "Tremomey" Savage (West Deptford, NJ) mix it up again.
From the cut-off Amarante shoves all-in for 500k and Savage calls from the BB and is at risk with slightly less.
Amarante's A 10 is dominated by Savages A J and when the board offers no help to Amarante, he's crippled to 30k, while Savage has more than 950k.
Amarante is eliminated two hands later in 13th place, earning $936, the same amount Jay Johnson (Philadelphia, PA) picks up for finishing 14th.
