9th Place - Shurilla

$300 + 50 NLH Seniors

Anthony 'Gorilla Sr' Shurilla (Longswamp Twp, PA)
9th Place - $923

Tony Shurilla is the second man down at the final table when he shoves all-in for 80k with KJ, and is quickly called by Anthony Donato who opens the betting with a raise to 30k.

Donata shows KQ and when the board runs clean the "Original Gorilla" is out in 9th place. It's Shurilla's second cash of the Borgata Summer Poker Open and second final table at Borgata in 2010.

10th Place - Sacks

$300 + 50 NLH Seniors

Gil Sacks (Bala Cynwyd, PA)
10th Place - $800

Gil Sacks is one of the short stacks at the final table and ships his last 30k with K 10 and is disappointed to see Morris Feinstein has him dominated with A 10.

This was Sacks second final table after winning Event 1 of the Borgata Summer Poker Open.

Turbo is Flying

$200 + $30 Deep Stack Turbo NLH

Since coming back from break, the bust outs have been in epic proportions as 13 players have been eliminated in twenty minutes and are the first to cash.

23 players remain as the field continues to rave about the deep stacks and 15 minute blinds.

One player on the move is Nazir Tyrewala (Severn, MD) who's crossed the one million chip mark.

I'd post the blinds, but by the time you read this they'll have increased three more times!

No Show Owns

$300 + 50 NLH Seniors

The suspected "unknown" has creeped into the top 5 chip counts with only 21 players remaining. Seat 3 remains empty, the 28-year-old that snuck into the Seniors Event remains a no-show for most of the tournament.

He comes back and forth just long enough to gamble and gather chips, his tablemates claim "he's beating up on the Blackjack tables, kid loves the casino floor." We'll see how long our empty seat can compete.

Patti Cake - Last Woman Standing

$200 + $30 Deep Stack Turbo NLH

Last Woman Standing

Patti Haggerty (Brigantine, NJ) opens for 95,000 and everyone folds. I asked her if it's been like this all day? "I'm a chick, it's easy."

Patti owns an Irish Pub in Scranton, PA but moved to Brigantine to chill on the beach and play poker full time. As for the Borgata Summer Poker Open deep stack turbo format? "I like the aggressive play. I get more respect - it works for me" said Patti.

Haggerty currently has ^500,000 chips.

Can Patti beat-up the rest of the boys and take home all the cake? We'll see.

Bubble Breaks

$200 + $30 Deep Stack Turbo NLH

After playing hand-for-hand for 25 minutes, the bubble breaks in Event 7 of the Borgata Summer Poker Open.

Dave Schiller (Rockville, MD) sends everyone into the money when the Q
hits the river for the straight.

The all-in player has A
Q and is in good shape to double his 110k when an ace comes on the turn, but when he hits two pairs on the river it gives Schiller a straight.

Schiller: A

Opponent: K 10

The remaining 36 players are dinner break and are guaranteed to earn at least $352 as they compete for the top prize of $20,000.

Down But Not Out

Dominic Rinaldi (New York, NY) thought he was out the door twice in back-to-back hands.

Hand #1: His A-5 all in lost to a set of Jacks. Dominic didn't realize he had his Opponent just barely coverd.

Hand #2: Holding K-10 of clubs with a flop of 7-8-9 (two clubs) he thought he lost when a club didn't hit. The river ten gave him the pot.

"I was ready to go to dinner but now I'm still in" said Rinaldi.

Poker Cop Sends Donk To Slammer

$300 + $50 Senior NLH

Drew Krafte Has The Table Surrounded

Retired Washington Township police officer Drew Krafte (Wyckoff, NJ) punches a fellow Senior out after out-flopping him.

Up against A
J, Drew, holding K Q♠ loved seeing the flop 3 6 Q and hitting top pair and a flush draw.

As the betting was coming down, I kid you not, a tablemate not in the hand tossed a lemon flavored ricola candy at the dealer and said, "Let's sweeten the pot". Ah, wrapped hard candy from Grandpa - happy memories.

Turn 2
and river 3 gave Krafte the 15,000 pot and a 62,000 stack.

"The Senior tournament is great. No kids in sunglasses with ipods jumping all around" exclaimed Drew.

I asked Drew as a former cop if it was okay to steal in poker? He laughed and said, "of course - you can lie too".

As for doing some detective work to track down this blog and website...Drew assigned his ten year old son Ion in charge who will have to help his Pop solve the case.

Big Boy trying to repeat for his wife Rhonda and daughter Alana who are rooting for him at home.

Perhaps to intimidate the other players, Anthony is carrying the newspaper clippings from his victory last year.

Maybe today Borgata will add to Big Boy's portfolio.

Craig scoops the 80,000 pot and pads his stack to 140,000. "I've played a lot of Borgata deep stacks but this is my first turbo. I like it a lot. Lots of action" said Panella.

Early action and gender wars at Table 3 in the Deep Stack Turbo.

Jordan Broad (Middleton, NJ) risked his entire stack on a read, was correct and got paid off.

Jordon's 6-8 offsuit versus Opponents' 9-10 suited..

Flop fell 5-7-8.
With top pair and open ended draw, Jordon check raised once the K hit the turn.
With high end open ended draw, Opponent jammed the rest of her 12,000 deep stack and Jordon called.

River 9 gave the pot to Jordon and knocked the female Opponent out the door.

She was pretty upset, shouting, "How can you make that call for all your chips? I shoved all in."

Jordon's thinking was he had a made hand and she didn't.

"He's a baaaaad boy" said Borgata Deepstack Regular - Ju Wang in the 2 seat. "She was mad. Macho Man picking on us woman."

Biggest Borgata Bad Beat Ever Won

$332,544 BAD BEAT BANK IS BUSTED

Bad Beat Jackpot Dealer - Steve Gamble

The largest bad beat jackpot in Borgata history $332,544 has been paid out across $1 - $2 no limit table #14 at exactly 10:00 AM this morning.

It was the first hand Steve Gamble (Brigantine, NJ) dealt today. "I came in at ten o'clock, just sat down, and dealt out the first hand."

According to Steve everyone was jumping up and down but he was like a deer caught in the headlights, in complete shock. "During twenty years of playing and dealing I never hit or dealt out the bad beat" said Steve.

Eight players were dealt into the hand and each will receive $22,170.

The winner of the hand and second place prize of $66,509 was Carlo Santos (Blackwood, NJ) holding A♠ 3♠

At the end of the hand, Carlo shouted out, "I got the nuts".

But the big money winner at $133,000 is the loser of the hand, Do Hien (Vietnam).

Do was holding 2 2♥. As soon as the hand concluded Do stood up and screamed, "I got the bad beat" next he threw his deuces onto the table revealing quads.

Carlo Santos - A♠ 3♠ versus Do Hien - 2 2♥

Flop: K♠ 2♠ 2♣

Turn: 4♠

River 5♠

Carlo has a straight flush steel wheel and Do dropped quad deuces.

Three player to the flop. Do went all in on the river and Carlo called.

Do Hien, who's been playing poker since 2003, told me he's going to buy a new house with the money for his wife and two kids. "I played yesterday into this morning for twenty hours and was up $1500. I was sitting in my car and had a feeling to go back inside and play some more."

On the other hand, Carlo was just trying to win his buy in for today's Borgata Summer Poker Open deepstack event at noon. Looks like he more than accomplished that goal.

Sidenote: One minute before the hand was dealt, the player sitting in Carlo's 7 seat got up and moved to the three seat. Carlo sat down in the 7 and the rest is Borgata history.
