Borgata Blinds 150 / 300 with 25 ante.
Frank DiRe's twelve year old son Justin made him a pyramid shaped card protector three years ago and the first time Frank used it he won a tournament here at Borgata. So this morning when his son asked Frank to use it again, Frank happily agreed.
The pyramid must be working as Frank just built his stack to 60,000 after flopping back-to-back sets.
Hand #1: Opponent bets 1000 pre and gets two callers.
Flop comes 5-7-4 rainbow.
Opponent bets 2000 and Frank raises to 5800.
Opponent calls and they see an 8 on the turn.
Opponent checks, Frank bets 2500. Opponent shoves all in.
Frank puts him on an overpair, hopes he doesn't have the six for the straight, and calls.
Opponent shows pocket tens.
Frank shows pocket sevens and the set.
Three on the river, no six, no chop. Frank wins.
The very next hand...
On a scary flop of Q-6-2 of hearts, Frank bets big and takes down a small pot.
He shows pocket sixes for another set.
"That's it. I can't show you guys anymore" declared DiRe.
Back to back sets is pretty impressive.
Looks like that reminder from Justin was an unexpected early Father's Day present.
